The Regulatory Fitness and Performance (REFIT) Platform brings together the Commission, national authorities and other stakeholders in order to improve existing EU legislation as part of the Commission's Better regulation policy. The ISA² action will develop the REFIT collaborative workspace to facilitate online cooperation between the members of the REFIT platform. The new workspace will allow all involved actors to treat citizens' suggestions for reducing administrative burden swiftly and efficiently.

• You are a European public administration that wants effective implementation and enforcement of the EU legislation in the fields of maritime safety and security, border control and fisheries control, customs and environment. You would like to have access to cross-sector and cross-border data related to maritime operations and avoid duplication of data collection.

This action will help you make use of big data techniques to reuse your data and transform them into knowledge.

You are responsible for implementing a catalogue of public services in your country. In some cases you may need to compile information about public services from various authorities. This action will provide some harmonisation of national and European service catalogues that will help European public administrations to understand what is available in other countries and also to access some common tools and data models to describe public services in an interoperable manner. This will help national administrations to link up public services domestically and in future to create a European combined catalogue of public services, a key precondition for building up cross-border services.

You are a European public administration or a potential vendor wishing to integrate your IT solution into an existing trans-European IT system.

This action aims to develop a self-assessment methodology that any public sector or research organisation can use in order to measure the maturity level of its datasets, projects or data infrastructures from the following perspectives:
a) data findability, i.e. how well an organisation describes the data it generates or manages with rich metadata and globally unique persistent identifiers;
b) data accessibility, i.e. how well an organisation allows its data/metadata to be retrieved;
c) data interoperability, i.e. how well an organisation ensures that the precise format and meaning of exchanged and shared data/metadata is preserved and understood;
d) data reusability, i.e. how well an organisation releases metadata with a clear and accessible data usage licence.

This action will ensure that the legislation data retrieval process, which is compliant with the European Legislative Identifier (ELI), is integrated with the information systems for monitoring the application of EU law.
