State aid: Commission authorises temporary Finnish scheme to grant limited amounts of aid of up to €15,000 to farmers

The European Commission authorised a Finnish scheme with a budget of €22 million which aims at supporting farmers in Finland who encounter difficulties as a result of the current economic crisis.

A l’invitation du Président de la République française, M. Nicolas Sarkozy, le Commissaire européen à l’Agriculture et au Développement rural, M. Dacian Cioloş, était à Paris, le 20 mai. Lors de cette rencontre, Nicolas Sarkozy et Dacian Cioloş, ainsi que le Ministre français de l'Agriculture, M. Bruno Le Maire, ont évoqué la réforme de la Politique agricole commune après 2013, le secteur du lait et les relations internationales.

Food valley – something to be proud of

'It is clear that quality products are the best part of European agriculture to promote in the world', according to EU Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Development Dacian Cioloş. Speaking at the end of a 2-day visit to Parma (May 7-9), he concluded that “we should be proud of this 'food valley', where the best of our quality production traditions are being combined with modern marketing. It has been a very useful visit ahead of the Commission proposals on quality policy, which will be published before the end of the year.”
