Commissioner Maria Damanaki met the "Fish for the Future" campaign group in the European Parliament during the plenary session in Strasbourg, to discuss the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy. The Commission presented its proposals in July and they are now to be discussed in the European Parliament and in the Council.

During her visit to Ireland, Commissioner Maria Damanaki spoke at the Institute of International and European Affairs on the gains that Ireland can expect from a reformed Common Fisheries Policy. She then met Simon Coveney, Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food, and representatives of the Irish fishing industry and civil society.
