€314 billion in other business services exported from EU 

In 2022, the EU members exported other business services worth a record €313.4 billion to countries outside of the EU (+16.9% compared with 2021). 

The ‘other business services’ category contains three subcategories: ‘research and development (R&D) services', 'professional and management consulting services’, and 'technical, trade-related and other business services'.

In 2022, ‘technical, trade-related and other business services’ reached €144.3 billion, a 16% increase when compared to 2021. ‘Professional and management consulting services’ had the highest increase, with 19.6%, climbing to €116.7 billion in 2022. On the other hand, ‘research and development services’ stood at €52.7 billion, a 13.7% increase.

United States, United Kingdom and Switzerland with highest share in 2022

The largest exports to extra-EU countries were to the United States (€78.1 billion), the United Kingdom (€62.5 billion), and Switzerland (€40.7 billion). 

Of all countries, the United States had the largest share of ‘professional and management consulting services’, at €30.8 billion, as well as ‘research and development services’, at €24.0 billion. 

The United Kingdom, on the other hand, had the largest share for ‘technical, trade-related, and other business services’, at €30.2 billion.
