In 2020, about 29.0% of the EU population aged 16 or over with a disability (based on the concept of a global activity limitation) was at risk of poverty or social exclusion, compared with 19.0% of those with no activity limitation.
In every EU Member State, people with a disability were exposed to a higher risk of poverty or social exclusion. The scale of this increased risk differed across the Member States.
In 2020, the Member States that recorded the highest proportion of people with a disability who were at risk of poverty or social exclusion were: Bulgaria (52.3%), Estonia (40.4%), Latvia (39.3%), Lithuania (38.7%) and Croatia (38.2%).
In contrast, the lowest proportion of people with a disability at risk were registered in Slovakia (20.3%), Denmark (21.8%), Finland and Austria (both 22.3%) as well as Czechia (23.4%).
