PES governance structures vary significantly between Member States. Some PES are part of ministerial structures, while some are organised as executive agencies. Others are more independent bodies, often characterised by greater regional or local autonomy. Depending on the overall organisational approach, there are also different degrees of involvement of other actors within PES management structures, with some, for instance, including social partners on their management boards.
