For its 10th edition, the Access City Award recognised the outstanding efforts made by EU cities to become more accessible to persons with disabilities and to elderly people. Commissioner Thyssen awarded the city of Warsaw (PL) the first prize at the Access City Award 2020 ceremony, held on 29 November 2019. The cities of Castelló de la Plana (ES) and Skellefteå (SE) were awarded 2nd and 3rd place respectively with Evreux (FR), Tartu (EE) and Chania (EL) all receiving a special mention award.
