Ecommerce Europe is proud to announce that it has become an official stakeholder of the Pan-European eSkills for Jobs 2015 campaign. The “eSkills for Jobs: Communication and awareness raising campaign” has been launched by the European Commission this year and will be also conducted in 2016. Its objective is to raise awareness of the need for people to improve their command of information and communication technology (ICT) skills for work. The campaign is a response to the growing demand for ICT-skilled professionals, which is currently not met, despite high levels of unemployment in Europe.

eSkills can help online shops in improving sales!

Many shops selling goods and/or services online are small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and the diffusion of ICT to SMEs is often hampered by different hurdles. These obstacles can also be related to eSkills issues, such as a lack of awareness regarding the possibilities that ICT can offer for improving business processes and conducting e-commerce or a lack of knowledge and experience in the field of ICT applications. Ecommerce Europe believes that acquiring appropriate eSkills will help online retailers, especially the smaller ones which have fewer resources, in improving their business models and, accordingly, their sales.

Next steps

Ecommerce Europe will support the eSkills for Jobs initiative in raising awareness of the education, training, jobs, and other opportunities that are available to people with eSkills and will promote these events and opportunities among its members and the 25.000+ online shops Ecommerce Europe represents all over Europe.
