The Digital4EU website was set up in February 2015 to collect views and experiences on how to create a well-functioning digital single market (DSM) from anyone interested in the subject and willing to contribute. Our aim was to enrich our evidence base to make better policies. We wanted answers to questions such as: What barriers do you encounter in the digital world today? What are the biggest issues we need to overcome in Europe? And how can we solve these problems?

The results of discussions on Digital4EU were presented to Vice-President Ansip – read his blog here – and fed into the European Commission's Strategy on a Digital Single Market, which was presented on 6 May 2015.

The Digital4EU team would like to thank you for your contributions. We are very happy you have been active and supported this open and transparent approach in developing EU policy.

In the second half of 2015 the conversation moved on to more detailed public consultations on key issues – such as geo-blocking, platforms, telecom review, ICT standards – which will now be followed up by concrete policy or proposals.

There are also more open conversations on specific policy areas. For example, if you are interested in science, then why not take part in Digital4Science? We have also started discussions about innovation on Innovation4EU and Simplify ESIF which is about Easier access to EU Structural and Investment Funds.  In June we will launch discussions about the new plans for developing e-government on Futurium. We are also regularly publishing posts on what is going on in areas linked to the Digital Single Market on the Digital Single Market Blog where you are welcome to post comments.
