DS Microdata > access EN REVAMP

Please read carefully the instructions, which outline under which circumstances you can request access to microdata.

Pre-conditions

Before you apply for access to microdata, please check that you fulfil all of the following 3 pre-conditions:

  1. Your entity is on the  list of recognized research entities. You may request access to European microdata only when your organisation has been recognised as a research entity and its name is included in the list of recognised entities on the Eurostat website. If your entity is not yet recognised, please consult our document with explanations on  how to apply for microdata access
  2. You have the research entity number and the name of the contact person in your research entity. If you cannot find this information, please contact the Eurostat microdata team.
  3. You have read the description of the partial anonymisation methods applied to microdata (scientific use files). It is important for you to know which methods were applied as they may limit the usage of data. Typically, in addition to removing direct identifiers from the records, some variables are grouped together, perturbed, recoded etc. The sub-pages in this section provide crucial information about the microdata preparation for each data collection.

For more information, please also consult our  microdata access guidelines.

Microdata access portal

If you fulfil all the pre-conditions, you can request access to microdata by submitting your research project proposal.

Please do so by using the microdata access portal. This tool allows you to send your research project proposal and to follow the progress of your request.

In order to use the portal, you need a  EU-login account allowing for 2-factor authentication. The portal only accepts EU Login accounts which are linked to professional email addresses
