High-level live discussion: Supporting Ukrainians in the EU through apprenticeships

On 27 October 2022, between 14:00 and 15:30 CET, the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) will organise a high-level live discussion on supporting Ukrainians in the EU through apprenticeships.

This high-level live discussion will explore how apprenticeships can be used as a tool to support Ukrainians displaced by the war and address their educational, employment and societal needs.

The event will have two main aims:

  • create awareness and maximise knowledge about how the apprenticeships community has supported Ukrainians in the EU
  • encourage EAfA members to make a new pledge towards creating apprenticeship opportunities for Ukrainians in the EU

The event will also invite non-members to join the Alliance and make their first pledge.

The event will be moderated by Ana Carrero Yubero, Deputy Head of Unit − Vocational Education and Training at the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. The live discussion will include the following guest speakers:

  • Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights
  • Anatolii Garmash, Senior specialist in qualifications, European Training foundation
  • Iryna Shumik, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education and Science, Ukraine
  • Agne Kudarauskiene, Viceminister, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania
