Commissioner Andor discusses adequate pensions for all at Belgian Presidency event
László Andor, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion participated in a conference to discuss the adequacy of pensions and social protection systems in Europe.
The event in Liège, jointly organised with Ministers Daerden and Onkelinx on behalf of the Belgian EU Presidency, contributes to the wider debate launched by the Commission's Green Paper on the future of pensions.
The Green Paper, published on 7 July, aims to identify how the EU can best contribute to ensuring adequate, sustainable and safe pensions. It comes as ageing populations across Europe put existing retirement systems under strain and governments grapple with the impacts of the financial and economic crisis.
