European Youth Event 2020: two online debates on employment and social rights in the Covid-19 crisis

The Commission’s Directorate-General (DG) Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion is organising two online debates during the European Youth Event (#EYE2020) on 26 and 28 May.

As the European Youth Event (#EYE2020) is postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the European Parliament is organising a special online edition of the event, with different activities organised in digital formats. DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion will be hosting two of these events.

On Tuesday 26 May at 12h00, the panel discussion ‘What labour market perspectives for young people after COVID-19?’ will focus on

  • How is the current crisis affecting the situation of young people in the labour market?
  • How can we use the crisis situation to better prepare and upskill young people for the recovery?
  • How can young people help themselves in getting through the crisis?

On Thursday 28 May at 15h30, a citizens dialogue with Nicolas Schmit, European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights will address ‘COVID-19 and employment: What is the EU doing to support citizens in the recovery phase?’. This event will give insight into the current situation and what the EU is doing to support workers and employers.

All activities will be streamed on Facebook Live of the European Youth Event.
