Description of the Organisation:
Vestfold and Telemark county council is responsible for upper secondary education in a large geographical region south of Oslo and ensuring that national laws and regulations regarding education are implemented in the schools. Since 1995, Vestfold, which was a separate county until 1 January 2020, offered placements abroad for apprentices through EU-programmes, such as Erasmus+. There are 21 upper secondary schools offering both academic and vocational training across the region. In Norway, most vocational training is a combination of 2 years of school and 2 years of work-based training. There are about 3,800 apprentices in the region. An apprenticeship contract is signed by three parties: the apprentice, the company and the county council whereby the county council is legally responsible for the apprenticeship.
