The European Alliance for Apprenticeships is a multi-stakeholder initiative steered by the European Commission. The originator of the pledge is solely responsible for implementing the actions outlined in the pledge.
Description of the Organisation:Les Compagnons du Devoir is a non-profit association providing training across 36 trades, from beginner to advanced levels. It organises 50 vocational training centres in France which provide apprentices with initial training. Apprentices take part in a 2- to 3-year course, alternating between 6 weeks of work and 2 weeks of full-time training, which includes living and working alongside qualified and experienced trainers (the "Compagnons" in question). Les Compagnons also provide high-level training to qualified tradespeople during the Tour de France. This programme is based on a model wherein trainees sharpen their skills while traveling, working in different companies throughout the year while also spending several weeks training in a trade and passing certifications (such as the EQF level 4-5). During their apprenticeship, Les Compagnons to their apprentices to to work in a European company or VET centre for 3 weeks.
