Description of the Organisation:
The Lisbon City Council (Câmara Municipal de Lisboa) is a public authority, engaged in public needs and the management of Lisbon's city with expertise and skills in a wide range of areas. The Development and Training Department has been working for more than 30 years as a certified entity, providing both education and vocational training and recognition of competences to adults through the lifelong learning program. The Department is certified in several domains of VET and plans, organizes and administers courses for all fields of vocational training. The Municipality has a Qualification Centre aimed to enhance the qualifications of lower qualified people, promote educational projects and offer innovative training courses to empower individuals. Beyond the training activities, some of the main concerns, activities and intervention of the Council include social support, housing, volunteering, environment, mobility, culture, tourism and urbanism. In addition, the municipality has a strong intervention regarding social voluntary actions. This also involves providing education and training to multipliers and facilitators within citizenship measures to empower and strengthen the capacity and autonomy of disadvantaged individuals, supporting family households and disabled people.
