The European Alliance for Apprenticeships is a multi-stakeholder initiative steered by the European Commission. The originator of the pledge is solely responsible for implementing the actions outlined in the pledge.
Description of the Organisation:The Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) is a registered trade union in Ireland. TUI provides advice and representation for nearly 18,000 members. TUI's membership comprises of over 30 grades who work in education, including; teachers, lecturers, trainers, researchers, tutors and management grades. TUI mainly organises in the post-primary public funded education sectors, including; vocational schools, comprehensive and community schools, further education colleges, training centres and institutes of technology. TUI have direct links with the Department of Education and Skills, and employer organisations such as Education and Training Boards Ireland, and Technological Higher Education Association. TUI also engages with other national agencies such as; Qualifications Quality Ireland, Higher Education Authority, Solas and Léargas. TUI supports European engagement by participating in European Commission initiatives and events including Erasmus+ and is also affiliated to the European Trade Union Committee for Education. TUI is also a member of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and Education International. TUI supports and promotes quality apprenticeships through the activities of the Apprenticeship Working Party (AWP). Members of the AWP are active in the teaching and training of apprentices. The AWP also co-operates with other trade unions who have an interest in apprenticeship education and training.
