It operates in 9 countries among 3 continents, which half of the members are based in France. The concept of "Cité des metiers" was born in the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie in 1993 in Paris-la-Villette. The main particularities of a Cité des métiers are: the right of anonymous use, decompartmentalised approach of the Counselling and a multi-partnership approach based on the interaction between counselling and resources. Cités des metiers are quite well recognized as key local actors in the public services for reception, information, guidance, in particular in France. They have been closely working with local Authorities.
