Description of the Organisation:
The "Initiative Deutsche Manufakturen - Handmade-in-Germany" (German Manufactory Initiative) was founded in 2010 and represents 25 German manufactories, including many family-owned and traditional businesses as well as world-class companies. While expressing the companies' common interests, the Initiative further accentuates the manufactories' outstanding relevance as an integral part of the "German Mittelstand" and their considerable impact on Germany's image as a location of industry and commerce nationally and abroad. Being so-called "Hidden Champions", the companies are market leaders in certain segments in national, European and international markets. Products handmade in Germany, contrasting the usual global production process nowadays, are not only popular due to their exceptional quality and authenticity, but they also have a considerable impact on the cultural heritage and identity of the regions where they come from.
