DS Quality> Peer review round > 2021 -2023 EN RV

Peer reviews form part of the European Statistical System (ESS) strategy to monitor the implementation of the European Statistics Code of Practice (CoP). Their objective is to review the compliance/alignment of the ESS with the CoP and help the statistical authorities to further improve and develop the national statistical systems.

A first round of peer reviews was carried out in 2006-2008 and a second round in 2013-2015. The third round of peer reviews is taking place in  2021-2023. The three rounds of peer reviews cover all the Member States of the EU and EFTA as well as Eurostat.

Documentation for the third round of peer reviews

The full package of documentation for the third round of peer reviews is available below and provides the following documents:

Self-assessment questionnaires

Guides

Annexes to the guides

All documents have been approved by the European Statistical System Committee. Please note that the documentation is only available in English.

Participation of Other National Authorities

The participation of 'Other National Authorities developing, producing and disseminating European statistics' (ONAs) in the peer reviews has been extremely beneficial. It helps to forge closer cooperation within the NSSs and raise awareness of the Code of Practice and of the ONAs' role in the production of European statistics.

Please consult the list of the ONAs [last update: November 2022] taking part in the third round of peer reviews 2021 – 2023 and a summary analysis of how they have been selected.
