DS disability > Legislation EN REVAMP

From year 2021, most of the data collections used for compilation of disability statistics, namely

  • EU statistics on income and living conditions (EU-SILC)
  • EU labour force survey (EU-LFS)
  • European health interview survey (EHIS)
  • EU survey on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in households and by individuals

are conducted under EU regulation 2019/1700 establishing a common framework for European statistics relating to persons and households, based on data at individual level collected from samples. Derogations to the regulation are specified in the annex to EU decision 2020/2050.

Beyond the framework regulation, 3 legal acts cover elements common to all social surveys:

  • EU regulation 2019/2181 specifying technical characteristics as regards items common to several datasets pursuant to regulation 2019/1700
  • EU regulation 2020/256 supplementing EU regulation 2019/1700 by establishing a multiannual rolling planning
  • EU regulation 2019/2180 specifying the detailed arrangements and content for the quality reports pursuant to EU regulation 2019/1700

Information on the legislation can be found in the website sections of the respective data collections for disability statistics:
