The Peer Review analysed the shift from the former quality management system for VET schools (QIBB) to the joint Quality Management System (QMS) in Austria.

EQAVET Twelfth Peer Review The Implementation and Design of Austria's new Quality Management System for Schools QMS

The 12th EQAVET Peer Review took place from 15 to 17 March in Vienna and was hosted by the Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) | RQB and the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of Austria.

Eight EQAVET Network members from the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy and Norway, acted as peers.

The Peer Review analysed the advantages and challenges faced by VET schools during the shift from the former quality management system for VET schools (QIBB) to the joint Quality Management System (QMS) that integrates both general education and vocational training.

The aim of the Peer Review was to obtain external feedback on the QMS’s strength and potential for further improvement.

Discussions focused on the specific aspects of the QMS and specifically on the transition of VET schools from the two former systems to the new one.

Participants had the opportunity to discuss with:

  • Representatives of the Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) | RQB;
  • The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research of Austria;
  • The Heads of School and school quality coordinators of several VET schools, including the Hertha-Firnberg School of Business and Tourism.

Additionally, they met with regional quality coordinators and trainers in university colleges for teacher education.

A short flash report, summarising the main outcomes of the discussion is available here.

A report with detailed feedback from the peer reviewers will be shared with the host country.
