Social and labour aspects of the just transition towards climate neutrality: call for evidence launched

The call, open until 19 November 2021, aims at collecting input from stakeholders for the forthcoming Commission’s proposal for a Council Recommendation on addressing the social and labour aspects of the just transition towards climate neutrality.

On 14 July 2021, the Commission published the Fit for 55 package to deliver the EU's 2030 climate target on the way to climate neutrality. The green transition offers an opportunity to create quality jobs in Europe, address inequalities and enhance well-being for all, but for the positive effects to materialise, the right accompanying policies, including employment and social policies, need to be in place.

At the same time, the socio-economic risks associated with the transition need to be addressed at all levels.

This forthcoming initiative will aim to provide guidance to EU Member States on how to address the social and labour aspects of the green transition.

The consultation seeks input from interested stakeholders and is open until 19 November 2021. Responses can be submitted in any EU official language in a personal or organisational/institutional capacity.

Please submit your contribution by filling in the feedback form.
