European Commission rewards British city Chester for enhancing accessibility in its city life
The European Commission today announced the British city of Chester as the winner of the Access City Award. Chester was chosen out of 43 cities from 21 EU countries, because of its inclusive measures for people with a disability in different sectors, in particular the tourism sector.

Disabilities: Access City Award 2016 for accessible-friendly cities goes to Milan!
On the occasion of the European Day for People with Disabilities, the European Commission is pleased to announce that Milan (Italy) is the winner of the 2016 Access City Award. Wiesbaden (Germany), Toulouse (France), Vaasa (Finland) and Kaposvár (Hungary) were also awarded for their efforts to improve accessibility for people with disabilities and the elderly.

Commission proposes to make products and services more accessible to the disabled persons
The European Commission today proposed a European Accessibility Act, which will set common accessibility requirements for certain key products and services that will help people with disabilities at EU level to participate fully in society.

Improving the communication between deaf and hard of hearing persons and the EU institutions
The Insign project was demonstrated for first time on 9 April 2014 at an event in the European Parliament. Deaf sign language users and hard of hearing citizens during two live demonstrations contacted different Members of the European Parliament with the innovative Insign platform
