Open PM² Methodology - building a community of project managers in Europe

Tom Vekemans – Head of Unit B.4 Software Developments Capabilities – Directorate-General for Informatics (DIGIT), European Commission

As we look towards exciting 2018 in terms of the use and adoption of PM² in Europe, we look forward to meeting you at the Open PM² Conference 2018: a world-class Project Management event sponsored by major EU Institutions (European Commission, Council of the European Union, European Committee of the Regions, European Central Bank, European External Action Service). The event provides a unique opportunity to meet representatives from these Institutions, Public Administrations, PM² Practitioners, Service Providers and Project Management experts to learn from each other, exchange best practices and share experiences in using PM² and rolling-out the PM² Methodology in their organisations.

Over the past few years, I’ve been both a proud sponsor and a privileged witness of the impressive growth of the PM2 Methodology adoption rate and the appreciation of its value within the European Commission, but also by a great part of European Institutions and Agencies. Then, through the Open PM² Initiative, which makes the PM2 Methodology accessible and free to use in entire Europe, I witnessed PM² going even further and reaching project managers beyond the EU Institutions’ boundaries.

What's PM²?

PM² is a project management methodology designed by the European Commission and now accessible outside the EU Institution thanks to Open PM², an initiative under the umbrella of the ISA² Programme. Its purpose is to enable project teams to manage their projects effectively, and to deliver solutions and benefits to their organisations and stakeholders. While PM² is suitable for any type of project, it is ideal for projects related to the public sector, or EU programmes and grants.

Open PM2 conference

DIGIT’s Software Engineering Capabilities unit, which I lead, is home of the CoEPM² (Centre of Excellence in PM2). The unit has intensively worked in the development and maintenance of the PM2 Project Management Methodology, with the invaluable help of key expert project resources (i.e. competence centers for architecture, development and management).

Looking forward to seeing you at the conference in Brussels on 1 and 2 February (or via live web streaming) and to welcoming your active contribution to the PM² Community and the evolution of the PM2 Methodology.
