ISA² - Interoperability solutions for public administrations, businesses and citizens

The upgraded EIF Toolbox is going live on 5 May!

The upgraded EIF Toolbox, interactive resource portal bridging the gap between public administrations and interoperable digital public services, is going live on 5 May 2021!

The EIF Toolbox has been designed to support national public administrations (covering the 3 or 4 administrative levels) with the tools and guidance necessary to implement of the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) and thus foster the design and implementation of interoperable digital services at national and European level.

The structure of the toolbox provides a complete and holistic approach on interoperability and allows users to access relevant information and reusable solutions or components supporting specific aspects of interoperability when designing a new digital solution or revamping existing ones.

This second version of the EIF Toolbox includes new interesting features:

  • The navigation has been simplified and it is now more intuitive. The supporting solutions are accessible thought different paths and from different entry points following the 3 pillars of the EIF, namely the principles, layers and conceptual model. In practice this means that all recommendations and relevant supporting solutions are linked to the 3 EIF pillars, and that the solutions’ page can also be viewed per EIF pillars.
  • The toolbox now displays additional information on solutions to ease the findability of info (i.e name of solution, solution’s owner, description, type of solution).
  • The most-wanted feature is now available! Member States will have the possibility from now on to submit their own national solutions through an online form, the EUSurvey, accessible via the “share your solution” option on the left-side menu of the Toolbox. Furthermore, a new feature, the EIF Community, is now available to allow European countries to interact and share their experience and best practices in implementing the EIF. In particular, this community will allow its users to post discussion items and comments in relation to the implementation of the EIF and to request support to the other users.

The EIF toolbox is a dynamic project that will evolve over time emphasising on practical success implementation stories at national and cross-border level. The new features will be explained in more detaile to some stakeholders in the coming weeks to engage all of you in this journey to make the EIF toolbox more practical and a fundamental tool to support the EIF implementation!
