ISA² - Interoperability solutions for public administrations, businesses and citizens

Take part in Digital Innovation Challenge for Europe’s SMEs and startups!

Digital Innovation Challenge

The Digital Innovation Challenge invites SMEs and startups to propose innovative services and solutions based on European Commission's open and reusable solutions, for example those developed under the ISA² Programme. The main prize is EUR 50.000.

On 7 November 2019, the European Commission launched the Digital Innovation Challenge at the Web Summit 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal. The Challenge targets SMEs and startups that would like to give their business a boost by going digital with already existing tools and components. The Commission offers a portfolio of open and reusable solutions with basic capabilities to facilitate the delivery of digital services in an interoperable manner across borders and sectors.

To participate in the Challenge, you can therefore work with ISA² solutions such as Core Public Service Vocabulary Application Profile (CPSV-AP), Data Catalogue Vocabulary Application Profile (DCAT-AP), Core Vocabularies, EU Survey, Test Bed, LEOS or Joinup Licensing Assistant.

Should you decide to take part in the Challenge, you will start by first developing a concept of a service or solution that can:

  • Reinforce your service offering by using standards-based solutions
  • Facilitate cross-border operations and tap into pan-European markets
  • Reach a higher level of security, interoperability and compliance of the services and solutions offered

SMEs and startups can win EUR 50.000 (first place), EUR 20.000 (second place) and EUR 10.000 (third place).

Through this Challenge, the European Commission aims to experiment with new ways for engaging with SMEs and startups to re-imagine how open and reusable solutions are created and promoted, stimulate awareness and, ultimately, increase their adoption.
