ISA² - Interoperability solutions for public administrations, businesses and citizens

Shaping the future interoperability policy: we want your feedback!

ISA²

The European Commission is currently evaluating the ISA² programme and the European Interoperability Framework (EIF) to present a reinforced public sector interoperability policy in 2021. The related roadmaps (EIF and ISA²) are now published for feedback on the Commission’s Have your say portal.

The first initiative will evaluate the current EIF and assess the support it gives governments to set up interoperable digital public services (i.e. services that are fully available online and usable by businesses and citizens in any EU country). It will also propose an enhanced public sector interoperability policy. You can provide feedback on the EIF and future interoperability policy roadmap until 12 November 2020.

The second initiative will evaluate whether the ISA² programme has met its objectives in rolling out these interoperable services across the EU, and especially in meeting the needs of the EU’s public administrations. Feedback on the roadmap for the evaluation of the ISA² programme is possible until 13 November 2020.

2020  became a pivotal point in the future of the digital agenda of the EU. In February, the European Commission adopted the Communication ‘Shaping Europe's digital future’ (COM(2020) 67) under the headline ambition ‘Europe fit for the digital age’.  The Communication sets out as a key action the development of a ‘reinforced EU governments interoperability strategy’ by 2021, aiming to foster coordination and the adoption of common standards for public services and data flows. Throughout the rest of the year, the need for action in the field of interoperability has become even more prominent as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
