The new Register of Commission documents is now available

In the context of our Improving public access to European Commission documents action, the new version of Register of Commission documents (RegDoc) has been released.

RegDoc is the official register of Commission documents where Commission proposals, decisions, impact assessments, College agendas and meeting minutes as well as many other document types are published on a daily basis.

RegDoc was set up in 2001 and since then there have been no major improvements. For this reason, in 2019, the Secretariat General of the Commission started working on a project called 'New Register of Commission Documents'. The aim was to improve the old RegDoc, which was outdated, not in line with Commission standards, and had an IT architecture that did not allow us to publish additional document types or make other improvements. The new RegDoc went live on 17 May 2021.

The first thing RegDoc users will notice is the new look and feel, now brought in line with Commission visual standards. External and internal users who have tested the new RegDoc appreciated how easy and simple it is to navigate. They also appreciated the improved search functions, the possibility to preview a document before downloading it, and to see related documents, as well as many other new functionalities.

However, arguably the biggest improvement of this project is the new IT architecture of RegDoc, which is not immediately visible to users. Nevertheless, this is a key change that will allow us to gradually integrate RegDoc with other Commission registers in the next phase of the project. This way, documents published on other Commission registers will be searchable also via RegDoc. The next phase (2021-2023) will include integrating RegDoc with other Commission registers, starting with those managed by the Secretariat-General. The first on the list is the Register of Delegated and Implementing Acts.
