ISA² - Interoperability solutions for public administrations, businesses and citizens

EU DataViz and EU Datathon 2021: calls for contributions are open!

EU DataViz is an international conference on open data and data visualisation addressing the needs of the EU public sector. This free online event will take place on 23 and 24 November 2021, as part of the EU Open Data Days. It is organised by the Publications Office of the European Union with the support of the ISA2 Programme.

The first day of the EU DataViz conference will focus on innovative ways to ensure open data is freely available for reuse, which in turn leads to better decision-making and improves citizen engagement. The second day will explore new ways of harnessing data visualisation as a powerful tool for various purposes, from making complex information accessible in a meaningful way to exploring policy scenarios.

The call for speakers is open now. Are you an expert on open data and/or data visualisation? We encourage you to share your ideas, successful projects and best practices with the EU public sector. Contributors from all over the world and from all sectors are welcome. Bring your expertise and contribute to shaping our digital future with data!

Would you like to participate as a speaker? Submit your proposal to be a speaker at the conference by 21 May 2021.

The fifth edition of the annual EU Datathon has been launched!

We invite data enthusiasts from all over the world to propose their ideas for apps using open datasets from the EU public sector. The best ideas, turned into fully functional apps, will compete for their share of the prize fund of €99.000.

This is your chance to demonstrate the potential that open data present today and, of course, your creativity and talent. Your application should showcase opportunities for concrete business models or social enterprises. It is also expected to find suitable new approaches and solutions to help Europe achieve important goals set by the European Commission, addressing one of the following challenges:

  • A European Green Deal
  • An economy that works for people
  • A Europe fit for the digital age

The deadline for submissions is 21 May 2021. From all the applicants, three teams will be shortlisted per challenge. If you are among them, you will be invited to develop your application and present it online on 25 November during the EU Open Data Days. For more details, see the rules of the competition.
