CAMSS will drive assessment of ICT standards for procurement

CAMSS

On 15 March 2018, the European Multi Stakeholder Platform on ICT Standardisation (MSP) endorsed the ISA² Common Assessment Method for Standards and Specifications (CAMSS). The members of the platform agreed that CAMSS will be the key driver streamlining the process for the identification and evaluation of ICT technical specifications to be referenced in the EU Catalogue of ICT standards for procurement.

CAMSS will play a key role in this process with the provision of assessments of the candidate standards to be considered for the inclusion in the EU Catalogue of ICT standards for procurement.

The positive feedback about the results of CAMSS collected during the 2017 MSP meetings and the success of the pilot carried out in 2017 have led to an unanimous decision from the MSP.

CAMSS is a European guide for assessing and selecting standards and specifications for an eGovernment project It is a reference when building an architecture and an enabler for explaining choices of standards and specifications in terms of interoperability needs and requirements. The solution is available to every public administration free of charge.

The CAMSS solution was discontinued in the ISA² Work Programme 2017 due to the insufficient user adoption and unclear value proposition. However, later in 2017 the CAMSS team had successfully managed to revamp the solution gaining user acceptance and a clear value as recognised by the MSP.
