Eurostat’s internal dissemination error management policy

In 2014, Eurostat adopted a new policy on the management of errors in disseminated data.

This policy describes how and in which circumstances errors in published data will be corrected. It guarantees that users are informed about such non-scheduled revisions in an appropriate way.

The policy covers:

  • the significance levels for the correction of errors
  • a commitment to correct significant errors as soon as possible
  • communication aspects
  • the approach for the correction of past errors.

It provides a common framework for the management of errors applicable to all statistical domains. Additionally, the policy aims to contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of Eurostat's processes and products.

Protocol on impartial access to Eurostat data for users

Eurostat adopted the protocol on impartial access to Eurostat data for users to support the implementation of the Code of Practice in the spirit of the Code’s Principle 6 on Impartiality and Objectivity.

It addresses users, staff, and partners in the production of European Statistics, and contains Eurostat’s dissemination policy as well as the pre-release access arrangements for quality assurance, joint production and for information purposes.

Quality reviews

Quality reviews, which have been in place since 2016, form an integral part of Eurostat’s quality assurance. From 2008 to 2012, they were called quality assessments.

They constitute the bridge between the theoretical quality framework and the practical development, production and dissemination of European statistics.
