DS International trade in goods > Information on data 1- EN

International trade in goods (ITG) statistics measure the value and quantity of goods traded between the EU countries (intra-EU trade) and goods traded by EU countries with non-EU countries (extra-EU trade). The term ‘goods’ refers to all movable property.

They are the official, harmonised source of information about exports, imports and trade balances of the EU, its members and the euro area.

These statistics are compiled on the basis of concepts and definitions, which are set out in EU legislation.

Data revisions

Published data are subject to revisions to ensure highest data quality.

Detailed data are revised frequently, depending on the national statistical authorities' practices.

Every month, Eurostat publishes reports showing the revisions that were applied to the monthly EU and euro area aggregates as well as to EU countries' data:

Annual data on TEC and TIC are less likely to be revised.

If a EU country provides revised data the corresponding datasets are updated as soon as the data are validated.
