Glossary:Government budget appropriations or outlays for research and development (GBAORD)

Government budget appropriations or outlays for research and development, abbreviated as GBAORD, are a way of measuring government support for research and development activities.

GBAORD include all appropriations (government spending) given to R & D in central (or federal) government budgets. Provincial (or State) government posts are only included if the contribution is significant. Local government funds are excluded.

General government R&D expenditure is also measured in the context of COFOG statistics.
