Demo farms for pesticide reduction

IPMWORKS is a Horizon 2020 project which aims to demonstrate ways to significantly reduce pesticides in all European agricultural sectors. It is a network of demonstration farm hubs giving farmers the opportunity to exchange knowledge about non chemical methods to control pests and reduce pest pressure.

Each hub is managed by a “hub coach”, helping farmers to progress further and adopt a holistic vision of Integrated Pest Management. Hub coaches organise demonstration events, based on the practical experiences of farmers and success stories of Integrated Pest Management to demonstrate that IPM is efficient and cost effective and makes it possible to reduce the reliance on pesticides while maintaining productivity and eventually boosting economic profitability at the farm level.

One year after the start of this project; 22 hubs are now installed in 14 European countries, involving about 250 demo farmers. IPMWORKS is also coordinating five national farm networks, in France, UK, Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland.

IPMWORKS also promotes the use of the IPM Decisions platform that provides an easy access to a range of Decision Support Systems ready for use to optimize decision making for pest control.
