The aim of this conference is to discuss the prospects for innovation in water use in the agriculture sector to improve sustainability and the competitiveness of the sector and related industries. Topics covered include: water supply and reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture; precision agriculture; economic assessments and decisions relating to the use of water; management and use of agro-meteorological information; agronomic techniques for the management of water resources; the role of plant eco-physiology, genetics and nutrition; the link between water use and crop protection; water management in agricultural and agro-industrial buildings; water quality and pollutant management. For each of these aspects, the conference will discuss the state of the art, the short and long-term prospects and contribution of research, and the possible consequences in terms of innovation.
