Le logo biologique de l'UE pleinement opérationnel à partir du 1er juillet 2012

La période transitoire de deux ans pour que le secteur de l'alimentation biologique se conforme aux nouvelles normes européennes en matière d'étiquetage touche à sa fin. À partir du 1er juillet 2012, le nouveau logo biologique de l'UE sera obligatoire sur toutes les denrées alimentaires préemballées biologiques qui ont été produites dans les États membres de l’Union et respectent les normes en vigueur. Le logo restera facultatif pour les produits biologiques non emballés et importés. L’apposition, à côté du logo de l’UE, d’autres logos à caractère privé, régional ou national sera toujours autorisée.

La Commission européenne a approuvé 20 programmes destinés à promouvoir les produits agricoles dans l'Union européenne et dans les pays tiers. Les programmes sélectionnés, d'une durée de trois ans, sont dotés d'un budget total de 70,7 millions €, dont 35,9 millions € seront financés par l'UE.

EU and the Republic of Moldova sign agreement on protection of Geographical Indications

The European Union and the Republic of Moldova signed today in Brussels an agreement to protect their respective Geographical Indications (GIs). Moldova will ensure a high level of protection for more than 3,200 EU GIs for food products, wines and spirits already protected within the EU. The agreement also aims at promoting trade in quality agricultural products and foodstuffs between both parties. "This agreement is a further step in strengthening our system of GIs around the world, but also a way of bringing Moldova closer to the EU", said EU Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Dacian Cioloș.

La Commission va recouvrer auprès des États membres 426 millions € correspondant à des dépenses au titre de la PAC

Dans le cadre de la procédure dite d'apurement des comptes, la Commission européenne réclame aujourd'hui aux États membres un montant total de 436 millions € correspondant à des dépenses irrégulières effectuées par ceux-ci au titre de la politique agricole de l'UE. Étant donné qu'une partie de ce montant a déjà été récupérée auprès des États membres, l’incidence financière est quelque peu inférieure et s'élève à 426 millions €. Ces fonds sont reversés au budget de l'UE en raison du non-respect des règles de l'UE ou de l'inadéquation des procédures de contrôle des dépenses agricoles.

The European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dacian Cioloş, and the Brazilian Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply, Mendes Ribeiro Filho, have signed in Rio de Janeiro a Memorandum of understanding to establish a dialogue on agriculture. The objectives are to promote mutual understanding and bilateral technical cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development and to strengthen the exchange of information for a timely and efficient resolution of any arising issues.

I am pleased to take up the invitation of Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu to visit China to strengthen our cooperation in Agriculture and Rural Development. Our cooperation projects and our trade relations are increasing on the basis of long term relations and mutual trust. Europe and China are the two largest agricultural producers in the world. The responses will feed into a Commission report on the regime next May which will look at the 2007 reform, with proposals for further changes if necessary, which would apply from 2014.
