EU dashboard
Background
The EU youth strategy is the framework for EU youth policy cooperation for the 2019-2027 period.
It encourages youth participation in democratic life, supports social and civic engagement and aims to ensure that all young people have the necessary resources to participate in society.

Set-up of the youth dashboard
The youth dashboard is made up of a selection of statistical indicators that are grouped according to the strategy’s core actions - engage, connect, and empower - and are complemented with contextual indicators. The selection of statistical indicators is based on the 'Proposal for an updated dashboard of EU youth' conducted by the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (EAC).

Youth participation in society
- Young people participating in formal voluntary activities by sex, as % of population aged 16-29
- Young people participating in informal voluntary activities by sex, as % of population aged 16-29
- Young people reporting being active citizens by sex, as % of population aged 16-29
- Young people using the internet for civic and political participation, as % of population aged 16-29
Employment and entrepreneurship
- Youth unemployment rate (% of unemployed young people in the labour force aged 15-29)
- Long-term youth unemployment rate (% of people aged 15-29 unemployed for 12 months or longer within the active population)
- Youth unemployment ratio (% of unemployed young people in the population aged 15-29)
- Self-employed aged 15-29, in absolute numbers
- Young people neither in employment nor in education and training (NEET rate), as % of population aged 15-29
- Young people with a temporary contract, as % of employees aged 15-29
Youth and the digital world
- Young people having basic or above digital skills, as % of population aged 16-29
