Annual sector accounts (ASA) inventories aim to provide a comprehensive overview of national compilation procedures of annual non-financial accounts by institutional sectors according to ESA 2010.
ASA inventories follow a standard structure and describe the:
- organisation of annual sector accounts production
- consistency with related data sets
- data sources
- compilation methods
- detailed view by transaction and sector.
This information is also important for understanding quarterly sector accounts production when relevant inventories are not available, because the most comprehensive data sources are collected on an annual basis. Therefore, quarterly accounts compilation relies on annual benchmarks when quarterly data are not available.
ASA inventories are compiled by EU members on a voluntary basis with Eurostat support. Quarterly sector accounts (QSA) inventories providing a comprehensive overview of national compilation procedures of quarterly non-financial accounts, following the same structure as ASA inventories are also available.
