A new leaflet on protecting social security rights of persons moving around in the EU has been published.

As an EU citizen you can move freely in Europe. Social security coordination allows your social security rights and expectations to move with you, by linking the national social security systems. It ensures you have continuous coverage when you move to another Member State, whether it is for work, on holiday, to retire or for planned healthcare.

But what does this mean in practice? Which types of social security benefits are most affected? How many people are actually taking advantage of these rights?

The new leaflet with underlying infographics and country sheets tells you more. In it the four principles of EU social security coordination are first briefly explained, followed by a short explanation of what this may mean in practice for the types of social security benefits mostly affected.
