Statistics Explained

Tutorial:Moving pages from Coded to Glossary

The glossary files from the Coded database were converted into Statistics Explained pages, based on a mapping of the Coded fields to the Statistics Explained page name and sections. These pages were placed in a separate Namespace Coded.

In a second phase, the Coded pages will be verified, modified/merged/expanded if necessary and moved, if they are sufficiently adapted to the requirements of the Statistics Explained glossary, to the Namespace Glossary. They can then be linked to from the Statistical articles.

Below is the checklist with the procedures to verify and modify Coded pages in order to convert them into Glossary pages.

1. Is the Coded entry potentially relevant for end users?

  • NO: delete the Coded page (by adding [[Category:Coded delete|Moving pages from Coded to Glossary]] at the bottom and removing all other categories. Go to next entry.
  • YES: move to next question.

2. Does the Coded page contain information which is not yet in Statistics Explained and which is useful for end users?

  • NO: delete the Coded page (by adding [[Category:Coded delete|Moving pages from Coded to Glossary]] at the bottom and removing all other categories. Go to next entry.
  • YES: move to next question.

3. Does the Coded page have the same name (except for the extension) and/or content as other Coded pages?

  • YES: Merge the Coded content into the Glossary page (3 languages), without extension, and delete the Coded page - when selecting the information to keep, use the following criteria:
  • eliminate all double information;
  • eliminate information which is too detailed for end users if it can be replaced with a link to this information elsewhere (ESMS file, manual etc.);
  • adapt the links.
  • NO: Copy the Coded entry in 3 languages into the Glossary namespace, without name extension. Adapt the links.
