The EC-funded MoveS network (Free Movement and Social Security Coordination) organised a seminar in Salzburg (Austria) on 29 June 2023.

The seminar was organised by MoveS in collaboration with its Austrian national expert, Elias Felten. MoveS is an EC-funded network of independent experts from 32 European countries coordinated by Eftheia and Deloitte.

After explaining the recent legal developments in the field of social security coordination at the EU level, the seminar focused on: (1) digitalization of administration and challenges for applicable legislation (Austria has a high number of frontier workers who since the pandemic are working from home on a daily basis) (2) Family benefits (the CJEU ruled on the Austrian indexation provisions (a large number of the judgments of the Austrian Supreme Court on family benefits have a cross-border element).
