Thematic Review Workshop on Greening of the labour market

This PES Network Thematic Review Workshop (TRW) enabled mutual learning and exchange of innovative practices by showcasing specific strategies and measures supporting the greening of the labour market, implemented by Public Employment Services (PES).

The TRW explored strategies and measures in the fields of: PES support to labour market transition from polluting to ‘clean’ industries; employment support; and skills development. Participants heard presentations on each of these topics and discussed the implications for national labour markets:

Labour market transition

  • Ecological transformation – opportunities and risks (Germany);
  • Transformation of the world of work – Contribution of the Federal Employment Agency (Germany);
  • Green transition in north Sweden – skills supply for large business investments and expansions (Sweden).

Employment support

  • Learning workshops – how to gain work and life skills (Croatia);
  • Programme for NEETs: INTERCEPT project (Lithuania);
  • Employment incentives for green jobs (Slovenia).

Skills development

  • Environmental foundation (Austria).

The workshop was hosted by the German Federal Employment Agency and brought together representatives of 18 PES – Austria, Belgium-Actiris, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and Sweden – and the European Commission.
