Conference on the right to disconnect and telework

This future-oriented conference, co-hosted by the European Parliament and the European Commission, will provide a forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities of telework and the right to disconnect.

On 15 March 2022 Vice-President for Democracy and Demography, Dubravka Šuica and Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit will participate in the “Conference on the right to disconnect and telework – the perspective from social partners, Member States and EU institutions”.

They will be joined by the European Parliament Vice-President, Evelyn Regner, the Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, Dragoș Pîslaru, and the French Minister for Labour, Employment and Inclusion, Élisabeth Borne. Representatives of the EU social partners and associations will also take part.

This future-oriented conference, co-hosted by the European Parliament and the European Commission, will provide a forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities of telework and the right to disconnect. It will also look at policy responses and actions at the European, national and regional level, by public authorities, social partners and employers, in the wider context of the future of work.

At the same time, the event will be an opportunity to present research findings by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA).

This conference is part of the series of follow-up actions of the European Commission in response to the European Parliament’s Resolution on the right to disconnect. It is an important milestone in generating debate, exchanging good practices and gathering evidence for future action.

More information on the event, including registration and the webstreaming links, is available on the conference website.
