The “European Wood Dust Conference”, organised in collaboration with the EU social partners of the “Woodworking” and “Furniture” sectors (EFBWW, EFIC, UEA and CEI-Bois) will serve as a forum for exchange of information and good practice on the implementation of the new limit value for exposure to wood dust recently set by the EC in the European Directive 2017/2398. The new limit was set to reduce the risk of work-related cancer stemming from exposure to hardwood dust.

The conference will be opened by Claude Rolin, Belgian MEP for the EPP who is active in the field of occupational safety and health. Some 90 participants (social partners and their affiliates, health and safety experts, and machine manufacturers) will have the possibility to engage in discussions on subjects such as wood dust measurement methodology, good prevention practices, and innovative technologies for wood dust prevention.
