The Commission has launched a 14-week public consultation to evaluate the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) in the 2017-2022 period.

The EQF for lifelong learning serves as a translation tool to better understand national qualifications and make them more comparable.

It is a common reference framework of eight levels, expressed as learning outcomes with increasing levels of proficiency. Countries map their national qualifications frameworks to the EQF levels, which helps understand what a qualification obtained in another country means.

This public consultation will contribute to the evaluation of the EQF by finding out:

  • how the EQF has been used
  • what are its benefits
  • and how it can be improved

It seeks the views of workers, learners, employers as well as stakeholders from education and training, employment and civil society. We invite everyone to answer, whether they have previously heard about the EQF or not.

We need your help to understand better how the transparency of qualifications in Europe can be further improved.

Share your views by replying to the public consultation, open until 22 March 2023.
