Sixth online training: Going digital in apprenticeships

The European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA) has launched a new online training module on the importance of digitalisation in apprenticeships. This is the sixth in a series of training modules designed to provide insight into apprenticeship systems in the EU.

The renewed EAfA introduces new commitments to digitalise apprenticeships. These commitments are echoed in the ambition of the European Skills Agenda to mainstream digital skills. The call for digitalisation is embedded in the changing needs of the labour market, reflecting the growing importance of digital technologies in employment and a new wave of automation in production and services. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated these trends and their significance in the future. Meanwhile, the lack of digital skills is holding back the EU economy, with 70% of businesses saying that the lack of staff with adequate digital skills is an obstacle to investment. The European Commission envisions a high-quality, inclusive and accessible digital education in Europe with plans such as the Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027), calling for a stronger cooperation at the European level and for making education and training systems fit for the digital age.

In this module, you will learn about:

  • why there is a need to digitalise apprenticeships;
  • how digitalisation in apprenticeships is planned and supported;
  • how to digitalise apprenticeships and get the most from it.

Through a range of interactive materials, infographics, and examples from different countries, you can explore the trends underpinning digitalisation and the benefits of using digital learning tools in apprenticeships. You will learn about EU, national and regional level planning, including planning at the school and employer level, to support this digitalisation. You will also gain an understanding of the types of digital tools available, as well as the challenges that might be encountered and how to tackle them.

The module takes around 30 minutes to complete. Upon completion, you will obtain a certificate of achievement. To start the module, follow the link below.
