The overall share of NEETs decreased in the EU by 4.9 percentage points (pp) between 2013 and 2023. Among the EU Member States, the largest reduction by far in the NEET rates (in percentage point terms) between 2013 and 2023 was in Greece (-12.5 pp) followed by Bulgaria (-11.9 pp), Croatia (-10.5 pp), Ireland (-10.3 pp) and Spain (-10.2 pp). In the first quarter of 2024, imports from Ukraine (€6.0 billion) were lower than in the same quarter in 2023 (€6.5 billion) while exports increased slightly from €9.6 billion to €9.7 billion (Figure 1) in this period.
