Glossary:Youth education attainment level

Youth education attainment level is defined as the percentage of 20- to 24-year-olds who have successfully completed at least an upper secondary education. This educational attainment refers to ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) 2011 level 3-8 for data from 2014 onwards and to ISCED 1997 level 3-6 for data up to 2013.

This statistical indicator is calculated by dividing the number of young people who meet this attainment level (numerator) by the total population of the 20-24 age group (denominator); without however counting in this total population those who gave 'no answer' to the Labour force survey question on the ‘highest level of education successfully completed’.
