Glossary:Mean age of women at first birth

Mean age of women at first birth means the average age of women delivering their first child (live birth).

For a given calendar year, the mean age of women at first birth can be calculated using fertility rates for first births by age (in general, the reproductive period is conventionally defined between 14 and 50 years of age).
